WATER SPORTS

Most beaches in Skiathos have well-euipped Water Sport schools manned with qualified and experienced staff. Water sports are an activity recommended not only for fans of action sports or athletes but also ideal for children or a group of friends. TREKKING / CYCLING

Trekking and Cycling are great activities to enjoy in the island's beautiful nature, up on higher grounds or on plainer areas. There are numerous signed Trekking routes to choose from of varying difficulty level and distance. A Guide can also be arranged upon request. Bicycle tours all around Skiathos Island's mountains, paths and beaches can be arranged with companies equipped with top quality-built mountain bikes and provide all the necessary safety equipment on the tours. DAY TRIPS & CRUISES

A Large variety of scheduled day trips and cruises exist which include either the island of Skiathos and surrounding islets or the adjacent islands of Skopelos and Alonisos. Alternatively, there are private boats and sailing boats (with a skipper) which can be rented out where you can plan your desired itinerary. SKIATHOS CASTLE

Skiathos Castle or simply Kastro is a medieval fortified site on the northern tip of the island of Skiathos, which was the main settlement of the island from the mid-14th century to 1829. It is now abandoned and a protected site. The population numbered between 500 and 1,500 people, living in tightly packed houses. There were 20 churches in four parishes, a chancellery, and several cisterns. In the Ottoman period, a mosque and governor's residence were built for the small Turkish garrison.

EVAGGELISTRIA MONASTERY / MUSEUM

In Skiathos, ath the Holy Monastery of the Evaggelistria one can find a treasure of sacred and holy relics. Apart for the feeling of reverence from the imposing surroundings, you can take the opportunity to visit four particularly interesting museums. At the Ecclesiastical Museum you can find objects from the cultural and ecclesiastical heritage of Skiathos and admire the collection of sacred heirlooms, silver and gold chalices’, communion trays, blessing crosses, publications of the gospels and religious books. As you're leaving the Monastery take some time to enjoy a coffee / refreshment at the Coffee Shop, right next to the Monastery.

TRADITIONAL HOUSE OF SKIATHOS

Skiathitiko Spiti (House of Skiathos) is an individual effort to preserve and promote the traditional way of life in the last century in Skiathos. A two-floor house which according to the carved stone which is situated at the lowest part of the balcony between the two corbels, was built in 1910. It has thick walls made of stone with big cornerstones and a tile roof. Initially, the house had a basement where big urns were placed, used for the collection of olive oil, as the family had its own oil press at the back of the house.

AMMOS TAVERNA

Taverna style Restaurant on the Beach of Skiathos Princess Hotel. Serves Greek signature plates with an international twist. Nice for swimming, lunch and dinner.

1901 RESTAURANT

Atmospheric for dinner located on the old cobble street. Available court yard tables, as well as indoors. Renovated very old stone building in the narrows streets of the old town. Unique ambiance and creative Mediterranean cuisine.

BORZOI CLUB RESTAURANT

Borzoi is established in 1978 and is the most renowned and awarded nightclub in the center of Skiathos. The restaurant is housed in a building that originally operated as a “taliagria”, one of the first olive presses on the island of Skiathos around the beginning of the 20th century. At the newly renovated Borzoi, you’ll have the chance to taste the unique flavors prepared by well-known chefs.

ERGON RESTAURANT

Excellent Greek traditional recipes, with a twist, from around Greece, as well as a great Deli store inside with traditional food products, tastes to take back home !.

PANORAMA ITALIAN RESTAURANT

Traditional family restaurant. Unique terrace with breathtaking view, overlooking Skiathos, Skopelos, Tsougrias and the village. Very friendly service with tasty food.

KOUKOUNARIES BEACH

This is THE most famous beach of Skiathos and one of the most widely known beaches in Europe. It is known as “Chrisi Ammos - Golden Sand” since the sand there is extremely fine and shines under the summer sun. This beach offers visitors its deep-blue, crystal-clear waters and a unique experience as the pine forest of Koukounaries reaches right down to the sea front.

LALARIA BEACH

Lalaria is one of the nicest and most picturesque beaches of Greece and it is situated on the northeastern tip of the island. The northern winds fall on the steep purely white cliffs, towering impressively over the sea.

BANANA BEACH

This bay was originally called Krassa, but was later renamed to Banana after the nudist beach, which once flourished here. The pine trees right by the sea beautifully complete the landscape in a unique way. The beach is accessible nowadays through the Elivi Resort.
